I should really be writing in Portuguese but to be fair we haven’t quite gotten to the praise your teacher part yet in our lessons 😄 I love our weekly conversations – it’s essentially getting to chat to your friend every week but you’re doing it in a language that used to feel scary to you but now you can to your own amazement actually speak. Sara is endlessly patient and motivated to improve my Portuguese – and super invested with her effort in class and outside class. I’m so glad I reached out to her to restart this adventure of learning Portuguese! I can say for sure after just 2 months I feel more confident and able to manage daily situations in Portuguese which used to cause me anxiety. Thank you Sara!!

Progressing from Knowledge to Capability

My sessions with Sara provide the perfect bridge between classroom learning and application of that knowledge. Despite having passed the CIPLE, my Portuguese verbal skills weren’t sufficient to support comfortable and confident conversations. Through Sara’s knowledge of both Portuguese and English, including grammar, her strong communication skills, and her wonderful empathetic spirit, I have made progress. I still require more practice so I will happily continue sessions with Sara.

I feel so comfortable with Sara that any nerves I have about speaking Portuguese, fear of making mistakes, disappear. Sara’s so kind and encouraging, and clearly really loves sharing her beautiful language with her students. The time flies by during my study sessions with Sara because I’m having so much fun! She knows when to push me, and is always gentle and kind when making corrections. Eu adoro as nossas sessões 🙂

I have been studying the Portuguese language for nearly three years now, on my own, with a private tutor, and in government-sponsored courses. Sara is simply the best teacher/guide that I have had, possessed of an otherworldly patience and a true talent for guiding and teaching a subject that she clearly holds very dear, her native language. I cannot recommend her services enough; she is my respected teacher and has, through our sessions – luckily for me – also become a very close friend. I don’t know that you’ll find anyone more suited to the task of helping you through the Portuguese language with humor, and skill.
